Joe Kuebrich, Class of '17, was chosen from hundreds of prospective students to study abroad at SLU's Madrid, Spain campus his first semester of college. He was one of ten incoming freshman engineering students that was awarded this honor. The $4000 scholarship was based on his GPA, ACT and essays to participate in SLU's new international program called SLU IGNITE.
"The Ignatian Global Network In Technology and Engineering (IGNITE) program is a unique international educational experience for high-achieving first-semester engineering students. Engineers need to have broad engineering skills and know-how, be flexible and mobile, and have the skills to work internationally. After all, many of society’s largest challenges are global in scope. Engineering is often performed in an international marketplace dominated by multi-national companies, which are increasingly globally integrated. The ability to tackle global problems and participate in a global community is essential for today’s engineering graduates." -The Office of International Studies- Study Abroad
CONGRATULATIONS Joe and safe travels!
