Gregory Root, son of Ron and Diana Root, is a member of the National Honor Society (NHS) and has excelled in World Youth Science and Engineering (WYSE) competitions. He is a member of the Breast Cancer Awareness (BCA) Club and has played on the soccer and tennis teams. Greg has taken the Marquette Catholic motto of Serviam, meaning "I Will Serve", to heart and has earned more than 1000 service hours while at MCHS. The majority of these hours have been in service to his local parish and as a summer youth camp counselor. His passion for science and desire to be a positive role model for today's youth is a motivating factor in his decision to study Chemistry and Secondary Education at Southern University of Illinois, Carbondale.
